Background

The game started with the simple question of whether Blindflug Studios would be willing to do a game for the 500 years anniversary of church reform. The goal was to make a game which conveys the gravity of what a big deal the translation of the bible has been, but using a modern setting. In 2117 you play a young hacker named Alice to fight a giant tech giant in Zürich to release the uncensored newsfeed to the masses, mimicking the event of the bible translation in 1517.

Gameplay:

The game has 6 levels, where your goal is to sneak through areas of Zürichs old town undetected. You move along lines of nodes, evading sight lines, finding keys and manipulating the environment to open up new paths. Along the way you will find transmissions which tell what happened in these locations 600 years ago and explain why Zwingli is a hero for this world's resistance.

Design:

Since the reformation of the bible in Zürich was such a specific, local event, we wanted to create a game that uses actual map data of the city of Zürich. All level designs were custom made with the actual layout of Zürich’s old town in mind. The game uses real 3D data as a basis for the game world, and the gameplay revolves around stealth puzzles that take part in the actual locations. The showdown of the game has players climb the historic Grossmünster church to infiltrate the Libria command center on top.
